Is it possible to have a PM Kirsten without an artist's mark? She doesn't have a body tag, her eyelashes and vinyl are softer, her hair looks ashy blond. BUT I've looked and looked and can't find an artist's mark... Does anyone know where/when she might be from?

Her artist's mark could be hidden under her hair, if her wig sits low enough. Can you post a picture of her?

Hi, Here's some more stuff I found on Kirsten. She has a number 20H9 at the base of her neck. Her meet outfit is tagged 1994 Pleasant Company Made in China. Is she premattel based on the number, her meet outfit...? What do you guys think?
I took a picture but don't know how to add it.

I don't think the artist mark is an indication of anything. Does it actually mean a doll is PM? I thought it was just like a "signature" on the face/head mold. And, considering they use some of the same molds still, I imagine, one could easily get a Mattel doll with the "artists mark."
My PM AGT doesn't have anything of the sort, but my PM Samantha has what looks like a #8, whereas my PM Josefina has nothing, and my Mattel Felicity has 70 C3 under the PC logo, and Nellie has 7 LO3.
Considering your Kirsten's Meet Dress is tagged 1994, and you say she has softer eyelashes, and no body tag, she sure sounds PM.

I am totally guessing but I think the artist mark is only on dolls made in Germany and maybe Hungary. The older pm tan bodied dolls have the mark, but the newer pm ones made in China don't. I have a Molly she has the artist mark and her skirt says made in Hungary. (Not that it means that is really is her skirt. Buying old dolls on eBay often you can't be sure things have not been mixed around.) I have a Felicity that I bought last year from AG. She says Pleasant Company on the back of her head no artist mark. Her meet dress says American Girl. I have a AGOT I got 4 years ago, she also says Pleasant Company on the back of her neck, no artist mark. Both of these dolls were made in China.
The face molds changed when the dolls started being made in China. There is a big difference in faces. Felicity sitting side by side, the older doll has a fuller softer face.
Makes me wonder if the pm Josefina doll I just got on eBay is really pm? It does say Pleasant Company on the back of her neck and her skirt does say Pleasant Company.
The problem I see is the copyright name of the company. I don't think the date on the outfit tags really represent the age of the doll. I have a 1988 Samantha, I have her sales receipt, but her meet dress tag says 1986. I really think the date is part of the copyright name of the Pleasant Company. It seems all white bodied dolls have the same date on their clothes. They must of been making the clothes with that date for years and years. There are just too many meet outfits dated 1986 on eBay. Even Felicity meet outfit is dated 1986 on the first edition dolls and we know she came out in 1991. A lot of people are getting cheated on eBay because of this tag. They think they are getting a 1986 doll and it could really be older then 1991. The fact is a Felicity doll can't be older then 1991. But you will see listings on eBay for 1986 Felicity.
Even the years the dolls with white bodies dolls were made is a guess. On the web there are a few sites that say the Bodies were white up until 1991 when Felicity was introduced. Someone I talked to was sure they only made the white bodies for 2 years. That they changed body colors because the dolls got dirty. It sure would be really nice to know for sure.
